Practice

 

Mark commenced the practice of law in 1979 as an Assistant District Attorney in Erie County, New York. He won many high profile felony cases and quickly rose through the ranks. He was named Chief of the Buffalo City Court Bureau, and later, Executive Assistant District Attorney. In 1988, Mark joined the United States Attorney’s Office (WDNY) and handled numerous civil lawsuits on behalf of, and in defense of the United States government. He was promoted to Chief of the Civil Division where he oversaw the handling of hundreds of bodily injury and other civil suits affecting federal employees.

 

After his service with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mark became an Erie County Court Judge. He left the bench in 1996 to join his family at Perla & Perla, LLP where he has recovered many millions of dollars on behalf of injured clients.

 

Mark has vast experience with injured laborers and served as a Member of the New York State Department of Labor’s Industrial Board of Appeals for 11 years.

 

Significant Achievements and Recoveries

  • $7.5 million recovery on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense against an oil company. - United States Attorney Award for Meritorious Achievement.
  • United States Department of Defense (DCIS) and Naval Investigative Service Awards for Outstanding Performance in the handling of cases on their behalf.
  • $2.4 million for a Depew worker who fell from a roof and suffered back injuries.
  • $1.4 million for a Buffalo roofer who slipped at a work site and suffered foot injuries.
  • Millions of dollars in recoveries for clients injured in car accidents and as a result of slips and falls.
